# One Gaiwan

> One Gaiwan (@onegaiwan) is a tea circle on Kith Rabbit: good tea in good company. Members sit down together, pour from one gaiwan, and take a little time to notice what is passing. "The same leaves never steep twice."

The same leaves give a different cup every time water meets them, and a sitting follows them, steep by steep: arriving (hot water wakes the leaves; phones face down), opening (the leaves unfurl; some days we talk, often we just listen), thinning (each cup lighter, sweeter, different), and letting go (the leaves are spent and go back to the soil). Some sittings are full of conversation; many are mostly quiet.

One vessel on the table means the same tea, poured by the same hand at the same moment, reaches every cup: share the pot. The leaves are also a lesson in impermanence.

Where we sit: mostly in Hong Kong, around old wood, a tea tray and whoever came; sometimes on a boat, from Discovery Bay to Lamma; and wherever a gaiwan travels. You are welcome with no experience at all.

Tea houses that host the sittings: Vermillion Hill · 丹丘 (@vermillion_hill on Instagram) — tea, incense, antiques and poetry. Many sittings happen there, and you can book one yourself.
